Sonali Kolhatkar

Up until very recently Sonali Kolhatkar worked as an Applications Developer at the California Institute of Technology. She has undergraduate degrees in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Texas and a Masters degree in Astrophysics from the University of Hawaii.

Sonali is also Vice President of the Afghan Women's Mission, a group that works in solidarity with Afghans to help improve health and educational facilities for Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Sonali has spoken out about women's rights and human rights in Afghanistan as well as the responsibility of the US to the people of Afghanistan. Her piece entitled, "By Any Standards, This is a War Against Afghans" was published online at www.zmag.org and www.commondreams.org. Her interview of a RAWA member was recently published in the January 2002 issue of Z Magazine.

Sonali is also one half of "Love and Subversion", a Pasadena-based music band, along with her husband, Jim Ingalls. She sings, paints, sews, cooks, and dabbles in Web design.
