2011 Campus Campaign: National Education Project

The Pacifica Radio Archives is bringing their Campus Campaign National Education Project to the Pacifica Airwaves Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 and Wednesday November 16th, 2011 for the 10th annual national simulcast with all five Pacifica stations.

Amy Goodman and Democracy Now kick it off at 6:00 a.m. here in Los Angeles with an interview with Arundhati Roy and followed by KPFK's own Margaret Prescod and Sonali Kolhatkar. This will be a celebration of the history we're preserving and how it is informing a new generation of activists.

On Tuesday, November, 15th the day is dedicated to Women.

Tuesday: Women's Day.
Featuring programs produced by women from each of the Pacifica Radio stations and the archives to bring attention to current women's issues and contextualize the Pacifica Archives collection as relevant to the understanding of gender and feminism. Guests: Bernice Johnson Reagon of Sweet Honey in the Rock, The Women of Occupy Wall Street, Abigail Disney, Nikki Giovanni, Melissa Harris Perry, Ricki Byars Beckiwith of the Agape Center, Mother and sister of Death Row inmate and Star Hawk.

The Campus Campaign National Education Project
Each hour will present the sounds of recently preserved and restored historic audio with special guests to help contextualize the collection and support making these primary resource materials accessible to scholars, teachers and students. We will be hearing Alice Walker, Gore Vidal, Mario Savio and new voices from the Occupy movements nationally. Guests: Amiri Baraka, Sabina Virgo, Susan Rubin, Montezcuma Maria Elena Fernandez, and more.
