Description:
The writer speaks before an audience at San Francisco State College. Pulitzer Prize winning author William Saroyan strongly resists the urge to give advice to this group of English teachers. Instead he recalls his past feelings of "isolation and despair" because, ironically, he had a hard time learning to read and write. Mr. Saroyan says learning is a subtle process, "It happens by presence, glance...and that unidentifiable condition which says to the other person 'O.K.' instead of 'not a chance'." His talk makes a profound, personal statement on education.
Actuality, no intro, box label instructs, "Operator should fade applause out at end."
