Description:

Betty Friedan, one of the most recognized leaders during the 1970's women's movement, speaks about the need for women to take responsibility of the empowerment achieved by the movement. There is a need to move from a radical fringe group to a major part of society, albiet at the cutting edge. She also warns against polarizaiton, for the issues are not about women vs. men, or career vs. family, or black vs. white. Everyone must join the new movement to for a new socity where former "women's" issues will become the values of a larger society. She pays particular attention to the problems of health care, child care, medical insurance, choice, peace, and the environment. The most important goal is to reject a culture of greed to create a culture of life.
