She is unjustifiable abducted in the middle of the night, and taken to a series of prisons that function as torture chambers for those considered political subversives. The story is intercut with the life and thoughts of Father Antonio, who becomes transformed as he decipers notes on bits of paper smuggled out from her prisons. - Winner of the 1993 CPB Gold award.
