THE PLOT TO SEIZE THE WHITE HOUSE / Jules Archer| interviewed and produced by Bob DeBolt. - Jules Archer, an author of 75 books and numerous articles, discusses his controversial book "The Plot to Seize the White House." Their was a plan by some government officials, he argues, to take over the United States government during the Franklin Roosevelt administration. They conisdered Roosevelt a communist, and sought to install a fascist dictatorship. The plotters approached General Smedley Butler, the commander of the Marines, to lead a coup in 1934, but Mr. Butler exposed the plot. Archer goes on to discuss United States corporate ties to Nazi Germany, American imperialism, and the limited historical sense of most Americans, and calls for students to develop better critical thinking skills.
