Soledad Brother read by Christopher Brooks

Duplication cost + Shipping: $43.37
PRA Archive #:

Christopher Brooks, a black actor with the Magic Theatre in Berkeley, reads excerpts from the book "Soledad Brother: The Prison Letters of George Jackson," which talks of prison life and the conditions Blacks face. These recordings were broadcast during the "Morning reading" time slot at KPFA. The series was first broadcast on KPFA in December 1970, while Jackson was still incarcerated. On August 21, 1971, George Jackson was shot and killed by prison guards at San Quentin prison. KPFA pre-empted most of their regularly-schedule programming to broadcast live reports, interviews, and panels. They rebroadcast this series as part of their programming on those few days following Jackson's death.
