The Global economy : 3rd World order / Noam Chomsky.

Talk by Noam Chomsky, noted linguist and political analyst from MIT, about the changing international scene. He begins by pointing to the common view that democracy and free market economies goes together, and goes on to examine the coercive relations between the United States and Central America. He goes on to explore the interrelation between United States policy toward Iraq, and developing involvement in Nicaragua and Panama. The mobility of capital as opposed to labor, Chomsky argues, means that the global economy creates exploitative policies in the Third World. The popular response to this exploitation of the Third World are popular solidarity movements, with the United States facing increasing isolation. The result for the United States, Chomsky concludes, is the current economic crisis. Remastered 1/99
