Description:

The Art of Psychoanalysis, Part 1

Alan Watts begins with a short introduction to the subject of psychoanalysis. Watts refers to Jay Hayley and a piece written by Dr. Haley as having to do with communication and the aspects of psychoanalysis. Watts reads Haley\'s article on \"One Upsmanship\" about people trying to place themselves in a superior position.

The Art of Psychoanalysis, Part 2

Alan Watts refers again to his reading of the Haley article and indicates that he wanted to read it not just to summarize it as he had done previously at a meeting of analysts. Watt makes some comparisons between a student going to Japan to study Zen and this type of therapy. Watts elaborates on Haley\'s article and discusses the therapeutic process.

The Art of Psychoanalysis, Part 3

Alan Watts comparisons of parts of analysis to Zen study and the healing aspects of both. Much of the program is Watt\'s response to an article written by Jay Haley having to do with the communication aspects of psychoanalysis.
