Description:
Elsa Knight Thompson talks with Richard Baker, president of the San Francisco Zen Center and Shunryu Suzuki (Suzuki Roshi), co-founder of the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Baker talks about the opening of the Zen Mountain Center, of which Suzuki was the head until his death in 1971. Thompson and her guests discuss certain aspects and ideas pertaining to Zen Buddhism, as well as the sense of detachment from modern American culture that leads people to seek out Buddhism as means of fulfillment.
