Description:
The Word Players perform a fragmented, splintered version of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" for WBAI's Mind's Eye Theatre. The cast includes Gil Jardine, David Haight and Edgar Walker as Romeo; Susan Miller, Sherry Pockell, Ann Rivers and Julie Scherer. Music mixed by David Kavanaugh. Production assistant: Ann Goldberg. Technical direction by David Lerner. Directed by the Word Players from a conception by Baird Searles. Recorded at A-1 Sound Studios. An early example of stereophonic recording technique.
This recording was formerly cataloged as BB3818.29.
No box scan has been included in this record, because the box is literally a plain, white box with nothing on it except the PRA Archive number.
pbcoreAnnotation:
The Word Players cease Shakespeare's words to interject dramatic analysis of Romeo and Juliet at 00:41:05. They end their analysis and then list the production credits at 00:43:25. The cast completes the production credits and resumes their dramatic presentation from 00:44:44 to the end of the recording.
This production of Romeo and Juliet contains prerecorded songs by The Beatles and Rolling Stones, and from a recording of West Side Story.
