If you love this planet : the threat of American consumption / Helen Caldicott ; interviewed by Evelyn Tully Costa.
Dr. Helen Caldicott, noted environmental activist, discusses the basic conclusions set forth in her latest book, If You Love This Planet. She criticises American consumerism, the continued Federal expenditures on military projects over social services, and how transnationals have used money to persuade Congress to pass the GATT agreement. The result of a Western Hemisphere trading block is a continuation of "rich" America at the expense of both the Third World and the environment. The media brainwashed the American public to accept these actions, which will really only help those in power. She concludes that we must battle for electoral reform and increase women's representation in order to battle these trends.|IF YOU LOVE THIS PLANET : THE THREAT OF AMERICAN CONSUMPTION / Helen Caldicott| interviewed by Evelyn Tully Costa. - Dr. Helen Caldicott, noted environmental activist, discusses the basic conclusions set forth in her latest book, If You Love This Planet.
