Includes descriptions of the Sharpville Massacre and the Soweto Uprising, poetry by Susan Anderson and Zindzi Mandela, daughter of the banished Nomzamo Winnie Mandela and Nelson Mandela, ANC leader serving life prison sentence on Robben Island; excerpts from Joyce Sikakane's The Window on Soweto, and the music of Miriam Makeba, Letta Mbulu, and African people singing "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika."
