(26 Minutes) Hate Crimes The beating death this week of Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student has incrased calls from activists for Congress and lawmakers around the country to five gay men and lesbians the protection of hate-crime laws. Meanwhile, two years after overturning an anti-gay rights ammendment to the Colorado Constitution, the Supreme Cort yesterday left intact a similar measure barring protective legislation for gay men and lesbians in Cincinatti. GUEST: Tony Varona is Legal Counsel for The Human Rights Campaign. GUEST: Jennifer Einhorn is Communications Director of GLAAD, Gays and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. (10 Minutes) IMF with Walden Belo Congressional Republicans said yesterday an agreement was imminent on freeing up $18 billion in US funding for the International Monetary Fund's coffers. Agreement on President Clinton's $18 billion request for the US share of funding for the IMF would come in exchange for a commitment by the administration to prusue changes in the way the IMF does business. GUEST: Walden Belo, professor of sociology at the University of the Philippines.
