A panel from the Conference on Abortion and Human Rights held on January 9, 1966 in San Francisco under the auspices of the Society for Humane Abortion. Topics discussed include the liberalization of abortion laws, the economic justification for legalizing abortions, and abortion as a folk medicine practice. The panel comprises Dr.Lucile Newman, Ph.D, anthropologist at UC Berkeley; Dr. Don Gibbons, professor of sociology at San Francisco State College specializing in criminology; and Dr. Frank Hovell, clinical psychologist and graduate student at UC Berkeley in the Masters of Public Health program and founder of the South Texas Planned Parenthood Center.
