Description:
Documentary on how Executive Order 9066, while aimed at the mass internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, also had an impact upon Alaskan natives on the Pribilof Islands. In June, 1942, the U.S,. government evacuated the 850 Aleuts from thier homes and dumped them into abandoned canneries and minning campls. While supposidly removed "for their protection," the Aleuts became the victims of governmental neglect. Those who survived found their homes had been vandalized and looted by the military during internment.
