Recording contains part one of "The Benefit," the WBAI benefit concert held on April 12, 1971 at Hunter College with Julius Lester, Carol Hall, and Dave Bromberg. Disc One: Tracks 1.-5. Julius Lester sings blues songs including "God's gonna trouble the water;" Tracks 5.-7. Carol Hall sings and plays the piano; Tracks 7.13. Dave Bromberg sings folk songs including "Mr. Bojangles" and "The Holdup" with the Fabulous Torpedoes, accompanied on backup vocals and bass by Steve Burgh.
