Margaret Mead's speech before the City Commission on Human Rights hearings on the Status of American Women in Contemporary Society. Recorded on September 22, 1970. She opens by stating the question that has been posed to her to answer: to review briefly the way in which the position of women today is related to their position in the past. She remarks on the fact that this is the first time in history it has not been to the population's benefit to have large population growth. Produced by KPFA. Recorded on September 22, 1970.
